1.2 billion people (17% of global population) lack access to electricity, mainly in countries in sub-Saharan Africa and in developing Asia where the majority of the world’s population lives.
As an example, in sub-Saharan Africa 590 million people (roughly 57% of the population) remain without electricity access, making it the largest concentration of people in the world without electricity access as efforts have often struggled to keep pace with population growth.
Renewable energy-based micro-grids can help to fill the energy access gap in remote areas to provide electricity at a level of access that is currently too expensive to be met via a grid connection and in urban areas by providing back-up for an unreliable grid supply.
The solution:
Ferntechs Monitor and Control solution has been implemented in micro-grid systems in different countries like: Congo, Uganda, Mali and Tanzania.
Our UMC controller allows the interconnectivity of all components of the micro-grid.
The data is sent via GSM to the Ferntech server so that actionable decisions can be taken in real time by the micro-grid operator.
By gathering this data onto a single platform, we provide a detailed report of the whole fleet of systems, as well as remote management and configuration.
